More protection for maids working in Malaysia
Agreement made to protect maids from Cambodia working in Malaysia.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Association of Cambodian Recruitment Agencies and the Malaysia National Association of Employment Agencies in an attempt to protect the safety and security of Cambodian maids.
The MoU also hopes to curb illegal trafficking. The Cambodian embassy in Kuala Lumpur has intervened in a number of cases where Cambodian women were lured into jobs in Malaysia but ended up working as domestic slaves.
