Leave a Gift in your Will

Make equality for women and girls your legacy

Leaving a gift to IWDA in your Will is a gesture that will ensure your values live on into the future, and that we can continue to stand up for the rights of women and girls for generations to come.

As someone who is a passionate supporter of women’s rights, this gift can be a life-changing act of generosity.

Gifts in Wills are an important part of our work and go a long way in helping us continue our vital work with women and girls into the future. They ensure that your compassion lives on in support of gender equality, and your life’s legacy will go on to empower more women for years to come.

Meet one of our bequestors

Sophie McCarthy, Executive Director, McCarthy Mentoring

“I found out about IWDA in 1993 when I was a young woman working as a researcher in HIV policy who wanted to change the world. My friend and mentor, Margaret Winn, introduced me to a network of like-minded women who ran events in support of IWDA’s important work. I was particularly attracted to IWDA’s model of partnering with women’s organisations and supporting them to develop, educate and provide real opportunities to women and their communities. I believe that it is important for women to support other women.

My vision for the future is a world where people have equal opportunities regardless of gender, to realise their potential and be the best they can be. As a supporter of IWDA, I know all contributions can make a life-changing difference to the women and their communities. That’s why I’ve left a gift in my Will to IWDA, to honour this commitment and support a future generation of women and girls to realise their full human rights and potential.”

How to leave a gift to IWDA in your Will

Having a Will ensures you can take care of your family and the people and causes that are important to you. Your Will is also a powerful way to ensure that your values and commitments live on into the future.

After providing for your own family, you can help thousands of women and girls by leaving a gift in your Will to IWDA. We encourage you to talk to your loved ones and discuss your intentions with your family first, so they are aware of the legacy you would like to be remembered for.

There are a number of ways to leave a gift in your Will to IWDA:

  • Include a percentage of the remainder of your estate (known as the residual). After you have provided for your family and friends, a percentage of your residual could make a huge difference to women and girls.
  • Nominate a percentage of your estate that you would like IWDA to receive (from 1-100%).
  • Leave a specific amount of money, real estate, shares, or items such as artwork etc. to IWDA.

We can advise you about specific wording for your Will, and are here to answer any questions you have. We are here to support you during this process.
