Timor-Leste adopts plan for women’s participation, prevention, protection, and peace-building

The National Action Plan for Women, Peace and Security for 2016-2020 has been approved by the Council of Ministers.

The plan aims to support the participation and leadership of women in peacebuilding and preventing and mediating conflicts. It also aims to ensure that women live free from violence.

Secretary of State for Support and Socio-Economic Promotion of Women, Veneranda Lemos, said:

“We have responsibilities to allocate resources, both human and financial, because investment in women is investment in the future generations of the nation.”
