81% of girls in Timor-Leste think violence is justified

A new UN report has found that 81% of teenage girls in Timor-Leste believe a husband beating his wife is justified for at least one reason.

The United Nations committed to ending violence against women nearly 40 years ago. When asked “Is intimate partner violence ever acceptable?” the answer should always be no.
