Young Women’s Leadership Retreat

In anticipation of the 16 Days of Activism, young women leaders from the Emerging Young Leaders Forum came together to collaborate and share ideas during a retreat earlier this month. The retreat was the fourth of its kind, supported by IWDA’s Funding Leadership and Opportunities for Women program. The retreat focussed particularly on planning the 16 Days of Activism campaign, and participants came up with creative ways to highlight and communicate significant issues.

Leading advocate for eliminating violence against women in the Pacific, Shamima Ali of Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre, spoke to the retreat participants, prompting dialogue. Sharing ideas amongst leaders and planning advocacy efforts are the cornerstone of feminist action.
