Women in Timor-Leste gain more funding thanks to resource
UN Women have published information for governments in Timor-Leste, Indonesia and Lao PDR outlining the resources needed to respond to violence against women.
The Estimating Resource Requirements for Responding to Violence against Women in Southeast Asia resource is available on the UN Women Asia and the Pacific website and has already helped to fund a vital project in Timor-Leste.
Marilia de Silva Alves from Forkupers in Timor-Leste said by using costing information in the report they were able to gain a 100 per cent increase in funding for a women’s shelter.
“We are very proud of this result,” she said.
