Women in Myanmar face violence, poverty and drugs

Drugs are fuelling violence against women in Myanmar according to a youth volunteer for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

“If a husband doesn’t get money for drugs from his wife, he simply beats her up,” said Nang Kham.

To address the violence the UNFPA have joined forces with the Anti-Narcotics Association to train police officers on gender-based violence.
