Going with the FLOW: From None to Some
In 2014, Honiara City Council demonstrated their commitment to hiring women in non-traditional roles and local leadership positions. Since IWDA’s Funding Leadership Opportunity for Women program commenced, there has been an increase in employment within the council and law enforcement bodies.
Increasing the number of women in decision-making positions remains a key objective of IWDA’s FLOW program and progress is being made. Opening up authoritative platforms for women to exercise their own judgement is a positive step towards challenging norms and creating gender balance across governing organisations in Solomon Islands.
