Commitments Part of a Broader Narrative

The Solomon Islands Electoral Commission (SIEC) recently held a two-day workshop, exploring “Gender and Us”, which was designed to educate participants about equality, power and how to incorporate a gendered perspective into election management and policy-making.

The SIEC publicly declared its commitment to gender equality, stating the Commission’s desire to be a leader in this area. IWDA’s Funding Leadership and Opportunities for Women program continues to work with partners in Solomon Islands to advocate for governing bodies such as the SIEC to make public commitments just like this. Advocacy is the first chapter in the narrative of change.
