Sustainable development agenda sets a bold vision for women and girls
August 27, 2015
If properly implemented, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) could be transformative for women and girls around the world.
The Women’s Major Group actively participated in negotiations for several years, and was able to ensure that the political declaration for the new global development agenda included appropriate language to reflect the rights of all people. The outcome of this is that many goals recognise and include a gender dimension.
The next priority is making sure that the SDGs are fully funded and implemented through government accountability, and effective planning and monitoring.
