The South Asian Women Parliamentarian Dialogue began late last month, with leading female parliamentarians from half a dozen countries meeting to examine gender issues.

The importance of women’s political and economic participation in society and the impact of skills and education in empowering women were key topics of discussion among the delegates from Nepal, India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

The parliamentarians also interacted with students, women’s rights organisations, and the media to discuss increasing women’s leadership.
