Rose Cassy is #determined that all women will be able to live in a safe home

22.10.15

A survivor of physical and emotional abuse by her husband for almost 20 years, Rose Cassy now works in rural communities in Papua New Guinea to fight for women’s rights and safety. She provides moral and legal support to women testifying in cases of domestic violence and polygamy, and often stands up to women’s abusers on their behalf.

Through working with Voice for Change, Rose has gained confidence, leadership skills, and respect and recognition from her community. Her husband has even changed his ways, and grown to respect and support her work.

“I’m really proud,” Rose says of her work as a women’s human rights defender. “It’s important to me, and important to my life to challenge the system.”
