Submission to inquiry into gender equality as a national security and economic security imperative

IWDA exists to defend and advance the rights of women, girls and gender-diverse people. Within the ecosystem of women’s rights organisations, we are both for and of feminist movements. As an Australia-based organisation, we work for feminist movements by resourcing diverse women’s rights and aligned organisations, primarily in Asia and the Pacific, with the money, skills and access they need to achieve their priorities. We are also part of feminist movements, making our own contributions through knowledge  reation, advocacy and movement strengthening, to advance our vision of gender equality for all.

IWDA welcomes the opportunity to contribute to this inquiry into gender equality as a national security and economic security imperative. The evidence of this premise is extensive, and for this reason this submission aims to catalogue a wealth of data and practical examples for the Committee’s consideration.
