Promoting equality through female police officers

Effective protection for women’s rights will fall short if the police disregard their own female officers.

In Indonesia, policewomen are still viewed as lesser officers than their male counterparts. This discrimination not only affects women in the force, but the greater female population.

Having more female police offers and empowering them to hold positions of command would not only benefit women seeking help and legal recourse, but contribute to an overall greater protection of women and children in Indonesia.
