Mobile apps teach Cambodians about violence against women

Three new mobile apps were launched in Cambodia last month, as activists turn to technology to curb violence against women.

One of these is Krousar Koumrou, meaning ‘model family’. The app uses animation to educate women about their rights, and what is and isn’t acceptable behaviour in a relationship. Creator Dany Sun explains that intimate partner violence is commonly considered normal by both men and women in Cambodia, and hopes that the app will help to break this misconception and encourage more discussion around the issue.
