Maasai women shine in short film

19.10.15

This short film by Global Citizen showcases how a group of Maasai women in a rural village in northern Tanzania are pushing back against traditional patriarchal control. The women in this group – named Kinapa, meaning ‘We carry each other’ – pool their resources and support one another to start businesses in order to achieve independence and provide for themselves and their families.

“Things are changing because people came and introduced women to business,” says one of the members of Kinapa.
