Fiji’s west has highest levels of violence against women

The Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre has released statistics showing Fiji’s Western Division has recorded the highest rate of violence against women and children this year.

The figures show the number of cases reported to each branch in all divisions up to May this year for cases of domestic violence, sexual assault, rape, child abuse, sexual harassment, attempted suicide and other forms of violence.

470 cases were recorded in Western Division from January to May this year. 414 were recorded for the Central and Eastern divisions and 336 for the North.
