Fijian women increasingly empowered to recognise and report domestic violence and sexual assault
More women in Fiji are coming forward and reporting cases of domestic violence, sexual assault and other forms of abuse.
This has been a consistent and measured outcome that shows the effectiveness of awareness campaigns being conducted. Fijian women are developing a greater understanding of their human rights and what is considered a violation of those rights.
Reshmi Singh, Western Division Project Officer at Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre, says “it is encouraging to see women are now empowered to report physical and sexual abuse”.
