Female fisherwomen face challenges in Fiji

Independent gender and development consultant Mereseini Seniloli. recently held a workshop with rural fisherwomen in Lautoka to explore some of the challenges they face.

“The women brainstormed their challenges and it differs in different communities, based on where they are located,” she said.

“For example, in Buretu, Tailevu, the women don’t have any boats so they have to hire the boat or they have to walk along the main roads with their catch,” said Mereseini.
