Education Leads To Equality

Recent statistics from the World Bank reveal that more than half of Papua New Guinean women do not receive a single year of formal education. In a research initiative undertaken by Bougainville Women’s Federation, supported by IWDA’s Funding Leadership and Opportunities for Women program, a lack of education was identified as a key barrier to women’s participation in leadership.

The report highlights the importance of education in equipping women with the tools and capacity to become influential leaders. IWDA continues to work with Bougainville Women’s Federation to develop leadership programs that are designed to do just that.
