Domestic violence “imposes a high burden of injury on women and the economy” in Fiji

The Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre aims to create awareness on issues regarding violence against women in an effort to assist survivors.

Research conducted by the centre, covering 189,385 women aged between 18-64 years old, reveals that:

  • An average of 43 Fijian women a day experience domestic violence
  • Only about 1 in 10 women would tell a health worker the true cause of their injury

“The issue of has become endemic across the country and calls for a concerted effort from everyone to assist in eliminating all forms of violence against women.”
