Civil Society Organisations – Take A Seat

Last week, the Pacific Island Forum Secretariat Officials Committee met to discuss the Framework for Pacific Regionalism. For the first time, the Forum invited Civil Society Organisations to contribute to discussions that will inform decisions on a range of issues including, but not limited to; sexual harassment in fisheries and the implications of climate change for women.

Funding Leadership and Opportunities for Women program partner Commonwealth Local Government Forum Pacific put forward a submission to the Forum for consideration. The inclusion of Women’s CSOs in this Forum is a positive step and acknowledges the value CSOs in development.

“Women’s CSOs are best placed to give a voice to women’s issues, and provide expertise and practical knowledge to assist in creating an inclusive and forward thinking Framework for Pacific Regionalism.”
