Women’s Leadership and the Future of Development
As September draws closer, we look forward to the post-2015 Agenda and the launch of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
“The post-2015 Development Agenda could be used as an important anchor to ensure that women’s political equality in the local government levels acquires centre stage both in terms of quantitative and qualitative targets in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) underlining its impact on poverty, development, peace and security.” – Women’s Participation and Leadership in Governments and at the Local Level, United Nations Development Programme
IWDA’s Funding Leadership and Opportunities for Women program is primarily concerned with making women’s leadership a government priority at every level. The inclusion of women’s leadership in the post-2015 Development agenda is a positive step towards transformative change.
