Training program for women’s safety on worksites launched in Papua New Guinea
A new training program to improve the safety of women in worksites will be introduced to three of the largest companies working in Papua New Guinea.
The Papua New Guinea Business Coalition for Women has worked with New Britain Palm Oil, Oil Search and St Barbara’s Simberi Gold Company to get the Gender Smart Safety training program underway.
Training facilitator Dr. Dean Laplonge said:
“Employers are starting to see links between gender and safety in their workplaces. They are starting to understand how women often experience workplace safety differently to men. This is the first time gender-smart safety has been implemented in a PNG workplace.”
