Radio in Cameroon amplifies the voices of women and girls
A radio show in Cameroon is proving to be a key tool for gender equality and the development of women.
Listeners of ‘Vie de femme’ are learning practical information to improve the status and welfare of women, including where to find assistance and health services. Issues that are considered forbidden to talk about in public, including sexual violence and child marriage, are being discussed daily.
While this allows women to have their voices and opinions heard, the programmes on the station are for all genders. Many men are realising the value of this information and are able to learn about the consequences of gender-based violence.
