Promoting gender equality through media
The media plays an important part in starting conversations about the forms of discrimination that women and girls face regularly.
The Pacific Community (SPC)’s Deputy Director-General, Cameron Diver, believes that negative attitudes towards women have persisted due to stereotypical, exploitative imagery.
SPC, in collaboration with FemLINK PACIFIC and the Government of Australia, is organising a five-day workshop for Pacific Island government departments, in order to help them strategise ways to promote gender equality using media.
