Hope for Pakistani acid attack victims
A charity in Pakistan is raising funds to support survivors of acid burns. Up to 750 Pakistani women per year have acid or kerosene oil thrown onto their faces, often due to refusing marriage proposals from men or giving birth to girls rather than boys.
The Depilex Smile Again Foundation is providing these women with access to medical treatment and reconstructive surgeries. In addition, the foundation finds jobs for hundreds of women, and arranges vocational training and scholarships for further education.
