FemLINKPACIFIC

FemLINKPacific (FemLINK) is a feminist media and broadcasting organisation, established in September 2000. FemLINK produces a range of media initiatives including community radio broadcasts, through a community radio network – FemTALK 89FM, and publishes a range of resource materials, supporting women’s networking, media monitoring and research.

FemLINKPacific AND IWDA

IWDA has partnered with FemLINK since 2001, commencing with support of the Generation Next community radio program. Since then, IWDA has continued to support FemLINK’s radio broadcasting and media advocacy, convening and consultations with their rural women’s network across Fiji, and the expansion of the model to the regional level. FemLINK are part of the We Rise Coalition.

 

Quick Facts

  •  FemLINK started with the Blue Ribbon Peace Vigil, providing a space for the families of the hostages held during the coup of 2000 to have a safe space to talk.
  • They operate two radio stations – a 24-hour radio station in the capital, Suva and the only rural station based in Labasa on Fiji’s second main island of Vanua Levu.
  • FemLINK are part of the We Rise Coalition, which includes IWDA, Fiji Women’s Rights Movement and DIVA.
