Concerted effort can end violence against women

While there is no one solution to the complex problem of violence against women, growing evidence shows that multiple approaches and a range of actions at once can help to eliminate gendered violence.

125 countries now have laws against sexual harassment, but individuals must set the tone for zero-tolerance to violence.

According to UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, community mobilisation and educational programmes are most successful when backed by legal, social and behavioural changes.
