Violence Against Women in the Pacific and Australian Aid Initiatives in Review

May 20, 2015

Rates of violence against women in the Pacific are among the worst in the world. Continued support is required to facilitate prevention initiatives and response services for women at risk.

IWDA’s Funding Leadership Opportunities for Women program recognises the need for working with strong women’s rights organisations who respond to violence against women. In partnership with Women’s Human Rights Defenders, IWDA promotes leading responses to violence against women.

The role of Australian aid initiatives in the Pacific has been recently reviewed by the International Centre for Research on Women. The report details the relevance and effectiveness of current programs that aim to eliminate violence against women, while also looking at areas where further investments need to be made.
