The Disparity between Perception and Propensity

A study exploring Public Perceptions of Women in Leadership coordinated by IWDA in partnership with the Fiji Women’s Forum was commissioned by IWDA’s Funding Leadership Opportunities for Women program to inform local organisations prior to the 2014 election.

1211 men and women were surveyed and results revealed a discrepancy between perceptions and propensity to vote for women. While respondents agree that women are under-represented and believe Fiji would benefit from having more women in government, only a minority of those surveyed indicated that they would vote for women at the polling booth.
