Take Action to End the Right to Rape
February 21, 2015
Thank you to all who signed our petition. The petition is now closed. On 11 March in New York, our CEO Joanna Hayter delivered over 25,000 signatures to the Australian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Gillian Bird. Thank you to all who took action with us to end impunity.
73% of countries do not explicitly outlaw your husband raping you.
International Women’s Day is 8th March. Sign our petition to demand action and tell the world that no man has the right to rape.
Every minute of every day, men around the world murder, beat, rape and abuse women. While under international law no man has the right to rape, 2.6 billion women live in countries where it’s not explicitly outlawed for their husbands to rape them.
At least one in three women will experience physical or sexual violence in her lifetime – that’s more than one billion women.
Why does this happen? Because too often, it’s not a crime. It’s tolerated. It’s excused.
That means billions of men can rape with no consequences. It’s a disgrace.
International Women’s Day is the 8th March. This is the day when the world unites to stand up for women’s rights. We’ll be in New York at the UN Headquarters for the global gathering of the Commission on the Status of Women to demand action to stop this injustice.
We’ll be telling all governments that enough is enough. This abuse must stop.
Join us. Sign our petition to show the world you won’t let rapists and abusers get a free pass. Take action now to End the Right to Rape.
We will take this petition to the UN Headquarters to pressure all governments to take immediate action. Let’s show the world that Australians believe ALL women have the right to feel safe and protected. No man has the right to rape.
