Fijian police and women’s ministry strengthen cooperation

The Fiji Police Force and the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation have signed a memorandum of understating (MOU) to strengthen cooperation in the protection of women affected by violence.

Rosy Akbar, Fijian Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, says that violence against women and children is no longer a family matter to be dealt with privately – it is everyone’s responsibility.

Akbar reinforced the community’s notion that domestic violence is unacceptable.
