Fijian culture shift towards gender equality

Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama calls for an increase in the measures taken to protect women and children from violence.

Bainimarama recently reiterated the nation’s zero tolerance for violence against women, reminding everyone to take the issue of ending domestic violence seriously.

While there are laws in place against domestic violence and gendered assault in Fiji, there must also be a concerted effort to create a culture that condemns these crimes as well.
